ABB has won a $20-million order from Swiss bus manufacturer HESS in order to supply its flash-charging technology in Nantes, France. The technology works with batteries on the roofs of the 20 buses, which are charged in as little as 20 seconds while passengers get on and off. It also takes less than one second to connect the e-bus to the charging point, faster than any other flash-charging connection technology.
The e-buses will be operated by public transport operator, Société d’Economie Mixte des Transports de l’Agglomération Nantaise (Semitan).
