The city of Albuquerque, New Mexico is looking to increase the share of solar energy in its state, which is the second sunniest in the US, yet only gets 3% of its energy from solar panels as of now. Within two years, Albuquerque wants to significantly reduce its electricity bill by installing solar panels on city buildings. Eligible for up to $25 million in federally backed bonds, the city now depends on its voters to obtain 25% of its energy from solar by 2025.
