Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Foundation partnered up with NGOs Friends of Nature, Institute of Public and Environmental Affair, Green Hunan, and the Beijin Green Foundation at a meeting on Saturday to cooperate on protecting China’s natural water resources. With Green Hunan in particular, they want to employ what they call folk river chiefs to monitor, control and restore rivers. A spokesman for Alibaba Foundation stressed the importance of encouraging the public to help, and disclose environmental information as an incentive.
