An approach to establish recylcing of flexible packaging

At the annual Flexible Packaging Association meeting, Jeff Wooster of The Dow Chemical Co. spoke about making the recycling of flexible packaging common practice. Flexible food packaging could not be recycled into the same, but other products, say, heavy-duty shipping sacks. The demand for recycled-content material should be increased by the utilization through some volume-intensive applications to grow the demand, but the necessity is not seen to use it for all flexible packaging. Wooster identified creative design, getting more material back into the system, sorting techniques, increasing the amount of end uses, and new technology as key points to establish the recycling of flexible packaging.
