Researchers at Northwestern University have created a robotic female reproductive system that will help scientists understand how a variety of drugs affect women. Evatar consists of actual living tissues that communicate with each other through a microfluidic platform, and as a result provides the same hormones a regular menstrual cycle would.

As of yet, some drugs could not representatively tested on women because of the complex body chemistry. With Evatar, the team wants to change that. The next step will be tests on diseases that affect the female reproductive system. Also, Adatar, the male equivalent to Evatar, is being planned.
