Atlanta’s City Council has voted to employ inclusionary zoning to support the development of affordable housing units. Developers will be required to use a certain percentage of new housing for below-market rate units, either 10 percent affordable to residents earning 60 percent of the median income or 15 percent affordable to residents earning 80 percent of the median income.
This will make Atlanta the first city in Georgia to try out inclusionary zoning.
