AT&T and GE collaborate to help accelerate the digital era of urban development. They aim at connecting cities in the United States and Mexico to the IoT. Being connected will help cities to better operate, communicate and meet one another’s needs. AT&T will have access to GE’s IoT platform which allows the implementation of outdoor LED lighting in a city to establish digital infrastructure that supports traffic, parking, gutshot detection, air quality monitoring and weather alerts. Current, GE’s reseller, joins energy technology such as LED and solar with sensors and software to reduce energy costs and create intelligent environments. AT&T and GE have already worked together to equip 3200 street lights with cameras, microphones and sensors in San Diego.
