The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Foundation started the 500 Cities Project jointly with the CDC and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Public health data will be collected in the largest 500 US cities that will allow health professionals and policy makers to make better-informed decisions. A selected number of chronic disease measures will be analyzed. Special focus will be given to risk factors that have an impact on public health.
