The German company Entrade Energiesysteme AG is going to provide its so called E4 plants to generate power from contaminated timber in Fukushima. The mass of lightly irradiated wood waste could be reduced by 99,5 percent. The company will sell electricity from 400 of its biomass-to-power machines that work like a biological battery. Reducing the volume of contaminated materials is supposed to support Japanese attempts to repopulate the region. Burning the material will not destroy radiation but it can be shrunk to ash and create clean power at the same time.
