BlackBerry offers QNX Hypervisor 2.0 for running computer systems on cars

BlackBerry Ltd (BB.TO) (BBRY.O) in an effort to increase its presence in the tech market, recently revealed that it has developed a software which can run complex computer systems on vehicles. Dubbed as QNX Hypervisor 2.0, the new product will make the vehicles more secure from hacking by isolating the multiple systems to run on a single piece of silicon, allowing the separation of safety critical functions from the system that are exposed to wireless networks. Head of Blackberry’s QNX division, Mr. Wall said,”Think of a house, and a burglar getting into a room. So even if the burglar does get into that room, the door is locked, he can’t get out of that room. And even if he can get into the hallway, the other rooms are locked.” Qualcomm Inch. further added that the new hypervisor is compatible with its Snapdragon 820Am automotive processor, thus enabling the carmakers to reduce hardware complexity and costs by putting multiple systems on a single platform.
