In the UK the energy and climate change department merged with business, innovation and skills. It was feared that the climate change would get lost but the ministry has released its industrial strategy and climate change is an essential part of it. Another issue becoming more prominent is clean growth. Battery storage, electric vehicles and smart grid technologies could get their own research institute and an anticipated emissions reduction plan will follow. It is part of becoming competitive in high skilled sectors and reverse wage stagnation while preparing to leave the EU.
