This is the first era of the advanced use of IT, analytics and cognitive capabilities to make individual buildings and entire portfolios of buildings more intelligent. Advanced analytics for instance have huge advantages. When used they help to lower maintenance costs, to cut the energy concumption, to reduce the carbon footprint, enable a more efficient use of space and last but not least improve the quality of life. In modern buildings a range of sensors constantly produces data from lighting, occupancy indicators and security mechanisms. The key to the new model of facility management is the integration of signals from a full range of unrelated components into a system of systems that drives greater awareness, learning and insight. The Buildings Industry Solutions company has a new vision which is enabling a range of efficient capabilities that include e.g. the avoidance of unnecessary repairs or replacement of components.
