BYD Continues Push Into Global Markets, Announces New Electric Bus Factory In Ecuador

BYD is all set to take its operation global, as it recently signed an agreement with the Government of Ecuador for building its electric bus factory in Ecuador. With an estimated cost of investment of about $60 million, this facility will create 300 jobs and will have an output of about 300 buses per year. According to BYD Senior VP Stells Li,” At BYD, we are excited to be working with the government of Ecuador as it seeks to improve the quality of life for its citizens – first through last month’s introduction of eco-friendly taxis and now as we look to create green jobs making vehicles that support a sustainable way of life.” Ecuador is already a leading example in the zero emissions since 95% of its electricity is generated by hydroelectric power plants. BYD has recently delivered 30 fully electric BYD e5 taxis to the City of Loja in Ecuador.
