The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) sees potential to use mobile technology to increase their workforce. Combining smartphones of citizens with a CPUC reporting app, the gap between public need and its services could be closed. “Basically, then, it expands our workforce to millions of people,” CIO Reza Yazdi says, highlighting the speed with which utility issues could be addressed if city dwellers were reporting them more frequently.
