The chemical industry supports the Kigali agreement which seeks to abandon HFC (hydrofluorocarbons) used e.g. for air conditioners. The motive behind this support is rather economically than environmentally driven. The agreement helps the industry’s competition of selling their alternatives to HFC. The sale of alternative chemicals is rapidly increasing. However, the interests of the chemical industry meet with those of the international community. On the opposite environmental groups and activists complain the chemistry companies had to much influence on the Kigali agreement.
