Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago has recently announced the initial results of a study, which showcased about 40% decreased usage of disposable bags since the implementation of 7 cent tax in February. A team of The Energy & Environment Lab along with the behavioral design lab ideas42 and New York University conducted this research. This has been an interesting outcome, which shows that a small tax on disposable bags has led to relatively large changes in the consumer behaviour.
