China has become the world leader in renewable energy. China invested a record 32 billion USD in global renewable energy projects during 2016 and is expecting to invest at least 361 billion USD into its own renewable energy sector by 2020 so it has overtaken the USA. Li Yangzhe, deputy head of the National Energy Administration, the official Xinhua news agency said that renewable energy would be the pillar for China’s energy structure transition. Any further information about where and in which sectors the money will be invested has not been given so far.
