Chinese firms Shanshan Technology, BTR New Energy Materials and LuiMao Graphite (in association with BAIC Automotive Group) are building lithium-ion battery graphite anode megafactories to meet the growing demand in battery storage. The total processing capacity of the factories will amount to 260,000 metric tons per year, which will result in 300 gigawatt-hours of lithium-ion cells each year.
The construction is to be finished by 2020, and will represent a threefold increase in global graphite processing capacity.
