Cities must take leading role in energy transition

In 2013, the world’s urban areas accounted for more than 60 percent of global primary energy use and prodcued 70 percent of the planet’s carbon dioxide. As these numbers will only increase due to steadily growing urban populations, it becomes clear that cities must take a leading role in the energy transition.
