Since about 18 years ago, robotic mussels are deployed to measure the estimate the internal temperature of actual mussels in order to record the thermal stress caused by climate change. The robotic mussels are equipped with a battery, termometers and data loggers, an example of so-called “biomimicry,” and record data from more than 70 places worldwide.
