Comcast has announced that it is expanding their Internet of Things service machineQ to 12 new cities. The rollout will amount to 50 percent coverage in 12 metropolitan areas including Baltimore, Boston, Miami, Atlanta, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
After a trial run in Philadelphia and San Francisco, Comcast is now hoping to create interest from corporate and municipal users, and also startups in the areas.
Comcast’s machineQ links up physical sensors to gather data from smart utilities such as patient monitoring devices in hospitals.
