Outside of the US capital, a new smart city project will be realized. Image source: Shutterstock (#478644340) pictures Capitol building in Washington D.C.
Real estate business 22 Capital Partners is building a $500 million, 2.5-million square-foot smart housing complex in Loudoun County, Virginia. As the project plan does not mention affordable housing in any form, it begs the question of how luxury development like this one is consistent with smart city goals to shape whole communities for the future.
By the end of 2019, the project will offer co-working spaces and green construction to the wealthy. Partners include, Microsoft, Avaya and Gravy Analytics.
