Daimler testing automated truck platooning

Having been granted permission for public tests from the Oregon Department of Transportation, Daimler has plans to test computer-controlled trucks driving close together with the help of vehicle-to-vehicle communication to save fuel.

Called platooning, this system could produce aerodynamic benefits that might offset the advantage of electric semi trucks of companies such as Tesla and Cummins.
