The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Ant Financial Services Group (Ant Financial), China’s leading online and mobile financial services provider, have founded a new ground-breaking initiative the “Green Digital Finance Alliance”. Ant Financial has designed an app which provides users with a carbon account. Around 450 million people in China have already benchmarked their carbon footprint and earn credits for reducing it. The initiative was made public at the World Economic Forum in Davos. It is committed to drive environmental risks, opportunities, incentives and choices into decision-making across the financing value chain which can be achieved through market innovation, collaborative action and public awareness.
