Delphi join hands with Transdev on self-driving buses, taxis

Auto supplier Delphi Automotive PLC and the French transport company Transdev are partnering for the development of self-driving taxis and buses which can be put to road tests as early as next year. Two pilot projects are planned in the cities of Rouen and Paris using self-driving taxis and self-driving vans respectively. Renault Zoe will be deployed in Rouen, Normandy and a shuttle van will run between  a railstation and campus in the university district of Paris-Saclay. A dispatch center will be able to take control of the vehicles in case of any errors. “We’re confident that in the event they would need to intervene, they can,” said, Glen De Vos, Delphi’s CTO. Interestingly 90 percent of the surveyed users are excited to be a part of this technology.
