Digital Realty has launched Digital Osaka 1, their first data center in Japan. Built to stem the data center and colocation requirements of global cloud providers, Digital Osaka 1 will not be alone for long as number 2 is already in development in an adjacent location. When the connected campus is finished, it will support up to 27 megawatts of IT capacity.
“Digital Osaka 1 was fully leased prior to the official opening, a reflection of the strong demand in the Japanese market for Digital Realty’s comprehensive data center solutions,” said Edward Higase, managing director, Asia Pacific for Digital Realty.
Cloud services providers are looking for data centers in Japan because of strict data sovereignty laws and high customer demand.
