The fast fashion industry has been hitting the news with its poor working conditions, child and slave work. In order to make the supply chain more transparent, researchers in the US are developing a DNA forensics technology that can detect the origins of cotton. The researchers hope to reduce diversion, counterfeiting and mislabelling in the industry by means of the technology.
