Dubai to get 700-megawatt extension to mega solar park

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai is receiving a 700-megawatt solar extension, including the world’s tallest solar tower. When construction is completed in 2030, the solar park will be able to generate 5,000 megawatts. The additional capacity will go towards reducing carbon emissions by 6.5 million tons each year.

“Our focus on renewable energy generation has led to a drop in prices worldwide, and has lowered the price of solar power bids in Europe and the Middle East,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), one of the businesses who awarded the contract.
