Forecasts predict a great increase in population for Australia. Ambitious plans have now been announced by Consolidated Land and Rail Australia (CLARA), a new consortium that aims to reduce pressure on the cities of Melbourne and Sydney. The plan includes the construction of eight new cities between these two major cities which would be connected with a high-speed rail line. The private project is estimated to cost USD 200 billion.
