The latest EU statistics reveal that countries in the EU recycled or composed 46 percent of their household waste on average in 2015. 29 percent of the municipal waste was recycled and 17 was composted. Recycling and composting together accounted for more than two-thirds of waste treatment. Poland produced the least waste with under 300 kg per resident whereas Denmark produced the most with 789 kg per resident.
