While awareness for sustainable concepts such as green buildings and walkable cities rises, the prevailing model of urban sustainability seems to be too narrow – instead of adressing single ecological issues in individual disctricts, sustainability policymaking should shift away from city centres and focus on urban regions and global networks of production, consumption and distribution.
