First autonomous Uber car has come into operation

Uber’s self-driving cars have started picking up passengers in San Francisco. The car is a Volvo SUV that is equipped with sensors and supercomputers. The autonomous cars do not operate completely driverless though. Each SUV will have a safety driver and Uber test engineers onboard that monitor progress with the tests and handle manual driving when needed. Nevertheless, the cars pick up passengers that ordered a car via the Uber mobile app.
