168 cities in 30 European countries have been evaluated on their performance in ‘Cultural Vibrancy’, the ‘Creative Economy’ and the ‘Enabling Environment’. The results show that while cities developed a strength in one area, they might lack skills and resources in other ones. At the same time the Monitor provides best practices as well as tools for policy makers to identify their city’s strengths and weakenesses and it suggests ways to enhance. The Monitor will be updated every two years and might include more cities in future editions.
