Thirteen leading energy, transport and industry companies have launched a global initiative the “Hydrogen Council” at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The initiative supports ambitions for hydrogen to foster the energy transition and position hydrogen as a key solution for this transition. Since it does not release any CO2 it can play an important role in the transition to a clean, low carbon energy system. The Council is the first of its kind. It will work with and provide recommendations to a number of stakeholders, policy makers, businesses, international agencies and the civil society to achieve its goals, especially the achievement of limiting the global warming below 2 degrees Celsius.
