A new revolutionary technology has been used to send data through the national elecetricity grid for the first time in the UK. The technology is supposed to be used creating virtual power stations where many thousands of homes and businesses jointly manage their electricity use smartly. Thus, peaks in energy use could be reduced and large new gas and nuclear power stations or diesel generators are not needed any longer.
