Flying car start-up, Lilium gets sponsors

Lilium Aviation, a German Company based in Munich has raised $90 million in a new round of financing. The start-up has held a successful test-flight with its two-seat electric jet. Liliums jet takes off like a helicopter and once accelerated flies up to a speed of 300km/h with a range of 300km. The company is focussing on an electric jet, which is said to be more energy efficient than that of competitors’ that works more like a hovercraft. Currently the company is working on a bigger vehicle that can transport up to five people, which should function as an ‘air taxi’. The company envisions a fleet of taxis zipping through the air, moving it from a niche-transport vehicle to a mass transport one.
