Food waste could store solar and wind energy

Despite all the technological advancements, a storage device is still needed in order to save excess solar and wind energy for times when the sun is not shining and no wind is blowing. Researchers are now working on an approach to store energy using sugar alcohols – an abundant waste product of the food industry.
