Ford started offering its ride sharing service “Chariot” in San Francisco in September 2016. Now the company announced it will extend its service to eight cities. The shuttle service fills a gap between taxi and bus services and reduces congestion. This is part of Ford’s “City of Tomorrow” vision. Under the “City of Tomorrow” vision, Ford strives for examining how lectric vehicles, autonomous driving, ride sharing ang IoT connected vehicles can interact with urban infrastructure in order to reduce congestion and improve air quality. The Ford City Solutions team is the only in the auto industry. Now they are collaborating with a group of global mayors to develop smart solutions for urban transport.
