Ford has confirmed that its five fleets will participate in the Ford Transit Custom plug-in hybrid van pilot program in London. Aimed at finding out the benefits of plug-in hybrid electric vans to support cleaner air targets, the project will be a 12-month pilot for 20 new Ford Transit Custom plug-in hybrid van pilot program. The vehicles will complete most of their run on electric power and will be equipped with range extenders. The departments which will use these fleets include Transport for London, Metropolitan police, Clancy Plant, Addison Lee, and British Gas. The vehicles’ financial, operational and environmental performance will be analyzed using the data collected by Ford telematics system.
