Chemists at the Centre for Electrochemical Sciences at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) devised an innovative approach to produce highly stable catalyst films with self-healing capabilities. Circumventing problems naturally connected to splitting water for the production of hydrogen, they are now further testing their findings to see how particle shape and size affect the outcome, and how an electrolyte solution could increase efficiency and stability of the catalysts.
