General Motors and Toyota Motor Corp. are advocating for changing automotive safety rules and update safety standards in order to allow self-driving cars on the roads in the USA. On Tuesday they will submit their request to a U.S. House panel. According to the two automanufacturers without changing those regulations it might take years before the latest technology can be acutally realized. The Senators Gary Peters, Debbie Stabenow and John Thune who is also the Republican chairman of the Commerce Committee said they were exploring legislation that advances innovation and reduces barriers in self-driving technology. They hope to propose a bill this year.
