General Motors has recently released a video of a self-driving Chevrolet Bolt EV testing its Cruise Automation system on the streets of San Francisco. The video showcased the vehicle’s capacity to handle different scenarios from double-parked cars to cyclists to adjusting itself for a raccoon running across the car’s path. Alongside an autonomous-vehicle trainer, an engineer analyzing the vehicle’s performance was also present along with GM President Dan Ammann in the rear seat. Citing the importance of the test scenarios Kevin Kelly, GM advanced technology communications said, ” It’s also one of the most challenging environments for autonomous testing. It’s important to point out what these technologies are facing on a daily basis.” The company has been running similar tests in other cities such as Detroit, San Francisco and Scottsdale.
