Google recently pledged $1 billion to address the needs of workers replaced by new technology. The announcement was made in Pittsburgh, where Google is prototyping autonomous vehicles.
According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the money is mainly meant to help with “closing the world’s education gap, helping people prepare for the changing nature of work, and ensuring that no one is excluded from opportunity.”
He also announced the launch of Grow With Google. The initiative will aid Americans in acquiring the skills they need to get a job or grow their business.
