Continuing to pursue its efforts for the global renewable energy drive, Google has signed a deal to purchase renewable power from the Sunport Delfzijl project, the largest solar farm in the Netherlands. Developed by Dutch clean energy specialist Enenco, the project is expected to generate 27GWh of electricity each year, and Google is going to source 100 percent of that power for at least 10 years.
The energy is going to support operation of Google’s Eemshaven data center. The deal follows the launch of a consortium including Google, AkzoNobel, DSM and Philips last year. The team jointly sources power from Dutch renewable energy projects.
