The Hanwha Q Cells and Kalyon Enerji consortium has secured rights to build a 1,000-megawatt solar power project in Turkey. The power plant will be the country’s largest power plant and is expected to cost around $1.3 billion. A 500-megawatt solar equipment factory will also be located nearby which will supply the solar panels for the project. Turkey plans to acquire 30% of all its electricity from renewable sources by the year 2023. This solar park will be spread over 2000 hectares and it will generate 17 TWh electricity every year. The first phase is expected to be commissioned in 2018.
