Hermes’ electric van pilot project to begin in 2018; aims to introduce 1500 Mercedes-Benz’ Sprinter and Vito by 2020

Hermes and Mercedes-Benz have joined hands to introduce 1500 Mercedes-Benz’ Sprinter and Vito electric vans by 2020 in all urban areas across Germany. The pilot project will commence in Stuttgart and Hamburg in early 2018 and aims to make the courier service’s vehicle fleet emission-free, focusing on the economical and sustainable benefits of the same. Hermes Germany also aims to provide delivery services in the rural areas completely emission free by the year 2025. The electricity used to charge the electric vehicles’ batteries will be generated from 100% regenerative energy sources which will be in line with the green-electricity label “Grüner Storm”.
