Honda’s ‘Vision 2030’, a new strategy push for self-driving cars, EVs

Honda Motor Co. recently revealed its strategy changes and laid out its plans to develop autonomous cars with level 4 capability that can drive on city streets by 2025. Under the new Vision 2030 strategy play, Honda wishes to boost coordination between R&D, procurement and manufacturing to manage the development costs. Although Honda is a little behind in the autonomous driving race, CEO Takahiro Hachigo, said,”We’re going to place utmost priority on electrification and advanced safety technologies going forward.” Honda plans to come up with Level 4 autonomous vehicles by the year 2025 and in order to boost its EV and autonomous push, Honda has ramped up its r&d spending, earmarking a record 750 billion yen ($6.84 billion) for the year to March.
