In 2013, Peter Skinner found the Repair Café in Palo Alto (USA) which adopts the idea of a grassroot movement from the Netherlands: bringing people together who need something to be repaired with people who can fix it. Thereby the cafe provides a platform for people who might not have met otherwise and it saves items from being thrown away, good for your wallet and the environment.
