Important step in development of chip design

Reasearchers of microchip design have focused for a long time on the development of carbon nanotubes. The replacement of silicon would make chips faster and more energy-efficient. At the same time the new material carries potential to yield further innovation, such as bendable computers. While still far away from the mass production of chips based on carbon nanotubes, researchers at IBM made a major step in working on the material. With the help of chemicals the nanotubes are shaped instead of carving.
