The Indian government approved to ratify the second commitment period (2013-2020) of the Kyoto Protocol. Ratifying the Protocol means India has to limit is Green House Gas emissions as well as implementing the Clean Development Mechanism project. The Kyoto Protocol says only developed nations are required to undertake emission cuts targets, provide financial resources and transfer technology to the developing nations. So far only 65 countries have ratified the Second Commitment Period (2013-2020).
